How to send your twitter updates to facebook
Hi sallyhems — thanks so much for commenting! No, it is not a user error that the URL to the tweets are not showing up. This is because, in essence, the content is coming from the Yahoo Pipe RSS generated feed into Facebook — not directly from your Twitter profile itself. If you simply took your Twitter profile RSS feed — the one that's available below your Twitter follower box on your profile, and you used that RSS feed in the RSS Graffiti App, then you would get the URL's linking back to your tweets — it would then link to the individual page that specific tweet not back to your main profile.
The trade off with that is you'd then have your username showing up at the beginning of each of your tweet updates on your Facebook Fan Page. Are you saying that on your Facebook Fan Page there is no "share" link showing for the updates that are coming from Twitter?
Also, if you could, can you provide a link to your Facebook Fan Page so I can what the updates are looking like? In terms of share link, when I check the settings, they're on 'compact' and when you preview, it shows the share option. Details are at:. Hi sallyhems — I checked you fan page earlier today and didn't see any updates coming from twitter thru the RSS Graffiti app — but now I've checked and I see your twitter updates from thru RSS Graffiti and I also see the "share" link now.
I'm pretty sure I did all the options, but my user name is still showing up twice. From steps 4 and 5 above:. Also, send me a link to your cloned yahoo pipe that you are working on and I can take a look at it for you. I'm getting the pipe stuff setup okay, and I run the pipe, then get the RSS.
I copy the url out of the address bar, then copy this into the feed on RSS Graffiti. After this I click the generate preview button, but it keeps coming up with an error.. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Hi Daniel — thanks for commenting.
It sounds as if something didn't get setup right in the Yahoo Pipes. Alternatively, we can hop on the phone and that might make it a faster process. You can reach me directly at I'm thinking that the disconnect might be in the construction of your Yahoo Pipe. I am not on Skype, but let's connect on the phone to walk through this — you can reach me directly at Google Voice — thanks again…. Hi Daniel — I just got your message, but I'm unsure how to make a call to Australia.
Anyway, you no longer need to use Yahoo Pipes. I did a video "how to" on how to set this up — it's now super easy to do — visit the link below:. Thanks so much for doing this! I had a new window open — What am I missing? Hi Ruth — thanks so much for commenting your experience with this process. I checked out your Facebook Fan Page and it looks like the feed is working fine. Is it normal for Graffiti to get an error, saying it can't find your RSS feed? If I keep trying, it will find it…but it takes me a few refreshes for it to show up.
Just for everyone after me…. Hi Andy — thanks for adding your comment. If you could, post your feed URL so that I can take a look at it and see what might be the problem.
Thanks so much and looking forward to helping you with this…. Perhaps try deleting your existing feed and adding a new one in RSS Graffiti — basically starting over fresh. I was able to add the feed to Grafiti, I could make 1 status update, the next I did hasn't been submitted to Facebook, pobably depending on the high error rate and the "flooding" pipes do on Grafiti?
I am one of the developers of RSSGraffiti the facebook application mentioned earlier in this discussion. Let me start by thanking Robert for recommending us as part of the solution for automating the publishing of your tweets to Facebook. It is rewarding to see that your hard work is appreciated and recommended.
Regarding the issue you all seem to face lately let me just quote Yannis from our page on Facebook:. Pipes answers only to a specific number of requests per minute from any given host. We are in a process of applying to Yahoo! Pipes for witelisting of RSS Graffiti. We will let you know how things develop with this issue. The current status is that we have already applied for the white listing from Friday.
We started having this issue since the release of 1. The increased performance of our engine resulted in us hitting the maximum requests limit of yahoo pipes. We are waiting for a response from yahoo, and in the meanwhile we are thinking of ways to bypass the problem until it is permanently fixed. So if you simply put your tweeter feed url on RSSGraffiti your tweets will be published without trouble. Without the customizations that Robert is suggesting though.
On the other hand, since one of our goals is to be able to effectively and adequately cover the needs of those who want to publish their tweets on Facebook, we would like to invite you to share all of these ideas and requests about how tweeter feeds should be handled, on our on-line community at.
We wish to make RSS Graffiti a complete solution capable of being a one stop shop for you Facebook Tweeter integration and in that process your feedback is valuable.
Thank you for the update. After a couple days of attempting thinking it was just user error, I got to reading these comments. I'll be checking here and grafitti's site for updates. Hi Dimitris — thank you so much for joining our conversation here and bringing up an update straight from RSS Graffiti. Because Facebook doesn't provide a simple application for us to send Twitter updates to Facebook Fan Pages, we have to find innovative, and sometime choppy, ways to make it happen.
The only trade off with that method is that you will have to deal with your Twitter username publishing at the front of your Twitter update on your Facebook Fan Page. My whole method of leveraging Yahoo Pipes was to tweek the Twitter RSS feed and remove the username completely from the feed — so you just get your Twitter update hitting your Facebook Fan Page. And this was at the requests of readers both here at Social Media SEO and from within the Facebook help forums, that they want their usernames to not appear at the beginning of their tweets.
The second reason my method utilizes Yahoo Pipes is because people wanted to have a Twitter feed that did not include retweets and replies, which Yahoo Pipes configuration can achieve quite easily. The people from your help forum might also like to join our conversation here as well — since I'm quite sure people there are also looking for ways to modify the basic Twitter RSS feed configuration and also how to send tweets automatically to their Facebook Fan Pages.
Thanks for the clear instructions. I have followed them several times and I keep getting duplicate posts on my FB page, and it still shows my Twitter account name. Any suggestions? RSS Graffiti has completed their update and it is awesome! You no longer need to deal with Yahoo Pipes! This is now the premier way of making this happen…. Thanks for this info, it was exactly what I was looking for, but even after following all of the steps you recommended, I am getting Error's in Facebook Page, it is not being able to get the rss feed.
I have tried it more than once and it keeps producing errors when I am setting up the rss graffiti in FB and click on generate preview it does not work. Was using Twitterfeed, but the OCD in me wanted to find a way to strip the username from the posts.
Thank you so much for the step-by-step video tutorial! Hi Josh — glad it helped! It looks like this: The application will now ask you to confirm that Twitter can access your Facebook information. Click on the Allow button. Now log into your Twitter account by entering your Twitter username and password. The screen looks similar to this: Click on the Login button.
The screen looks like this: Personally, I never use this. You should get a confirmation screen that looks similar to this: Now confirm that you are willing to let Twitter update your Facebook status by clicking the Allow Status Updates button.
Question: Did this work for you? How has this changed your use of Facebook and Twitter. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will add value to my readers.
